Gabriella Binazzi (Italian, 20th c.). Distributed by Oggetti, Italy. Silver plated and shell sculpture in the form of a bird or waterfowl. The body of the bird is a large conch shell while the base, legs, neck, and head are all silver plated metal.Height: 20 1/2 in x width: 18 in x depth: 8 1/2 in.
The sculpture is in good condition overall with no visible losses, cracks, or dents. Light wear throughout. Along the top of the shell, there is a tape residue and a few areas of discoloration. Along the interior of the shell, dust collected as expected. There is a restoration attempt to where the neck and the shell body meet- glue residue visible. To the siphonal canal of the shell, it seems that there is a loss and has possibly been ground down - although it's smooth, the surface texture is different from other parts. One of the spines of the shell has dark marks. There is another restoration attempt to where the shell and the legs meet. Only the heels of the feet are attached to the base. Throughout the metal parts, there are a few areas with light discoloration to recessed areas. Wear to the underside, consistent with its age and use.
