Fred Sweney (American, 1912-1996). Oil on canvas painting depicting a group of waterfowl above a prairie landscape. The ducks approach a body of water within the tall grasses while further mallards take wing behind them. Signed along the lower right. Veldman Galleries label affixed to the verso.
Sight; height: 27 in x width: 32 3/4 in. Framed; height: 36 in x width: 42 in x depth: 1 1/2 in.
The colors are bold and bright and the surface is stable. There is one extremely minute pinhole along the extreme upper center edge, nearly obscured by the rabbet. There are a few light accretions along the upper extreme edge, seemingly from the rabbet rubbing against the surface of the painting. Clean verso. Light wear to the frame.
