Evan Javan Brown, Sr. (American, 1897-1980). Vintage North Carolina art pottery hand thrown pitcher with lid in a glossy brown glaze, impressed mark "E. J. Brown Handmade" along the underside. E. J. Brown Sr. (1897-1980) learned from his father and, in turn, taught the next generation. An example of his work is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
