Emile Pingat (French, c. 1820-1901). French couture designer silk dress with a bustle, ca. 1880s. The skirt in a shade of dusty lavender accented with ruched and ruffle decoration as well as a delicate lace underskirt. One pocket along the right side. The jacket with a floral embroidered motif throughout, mother of pearl buttons, and a lace collar. The dress is further accented with purple tasseled lace and silk rosettes. A long sash drapes elegantly from the left sleeve to the back of the jacket, adding to the long train of the dress. Label along a strap affixed to the interior of the jacket.
