Edwin Scheier (American, 1910-2008). Ceramic plate decorated with a stylized scene of Adam and Eve with the snake and the forbidden fruit, 1947. Earthenware with slip decoration and a clear glaze overtop. Incised signature and date along the underside.

Height: 2 1/2 in x diameter: 16 in.
The underside has signs of light wear, consistent with age and use. There are no major chips, cracks, or losses. There are no visible signs of restoration under UV light. There are four spots along the underside where felt tabs may have once been affixed; there is a label affixed to the underside and a partial label as well; accession number in red ink along the underside.
