Working from Rochester, Minnesota, Maass has designed over 38 duck and conservation stamps and has always felt a deep connection with wildlife ever since his childhood. In reference to this painting Maass has said "While on a recent reference trip a short distance west of Minneapolis, I turned onto a narrow gravel road, identified by a sign as Tomahawk Trail. Driving a mile or so, I viewed what I thought to be a perfect setting for a pheasant painting."Sight; height: 23 1/2 in x width: 35 1/2 in. Framed; height: 31 1/2 in x 43 3/4 in.
The colors are bold and bright and the surface is stable. No visible cracks, losses, or restorations when inspected under UV light. Light wear to the frame; verso not inspected.
