Clyde Aspevig (American, b. 1951) Oil on canvas painting titled "Springtime in the Tobacco Roots" depicting a heard of cows in an idyllic landscape with towering snow-capped mountains rising in the distance. Signed along the lower left.

Aspevig is inspired by the landscapes of Montana and Wyoming. Growing up near the Canadian border in Montana, he was geographically and culturally isolated from the world, which he considers a blessing According to the artist "Because I grew up in a vacuum in Montana, I wasn't taught the cliches." In addition to this, he found support in his family; his father bought his first painting at the age of twelve. He takes his inspiration from the works of Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, and Anders Zorn.

The colors are bold and bright. The surface is stable. There are no rips, creases, or losses. There are no signs of restoration under UV light. Not examined out of frame.
