Chinese late Qing Imperial court fan, silk with a wooden frame and handle. Painted with a scene of goldfish among algae. The attached yellow inventory tag reads "dedicated by your servant Ma Wen Lin, kneel." Ma Wen Lin (1862-1908) was a late Qing court painter well known for his depictions of fish; this fan strongly resembles a fan painting of his currently in the collection of the Taiwan Gugong Museum.Length: 13 3/4 in x diameter: 9 in.
