Shannon's works often focused on the American South, especially around the River Region of Alabama. He is often credited with discovering fellow artist Bill Traylor. He helped buy supplies and support Traylor, who was homeless at the time of their meeting, and promoted his art.
Sight; height: 30 in x width: 39 3/4 in. Framed; height: 37 1/2 in x width: 47 1/2 in x depth: 1 5/8 in.
There are no visible restorations when viewed under UV light. There is a small paint loss and some cupping near the center of the work. An additional stretcher bar has been added to the verso of the work for stabilization. Some fraying to the extreme edges of the canvas along the verso. Some wear to the frame including small chips and losses to the gilding.

Revere Auctions is not obligated to release a lot to the purchaser until title to the lot has passed. The purchaser agrees to pay Revere Auctions handling charge of $30 for any check dishonored by the drawee.
SHIPPING
Revere Auctions does NOT offer in-house shipping. As a convenience to the Buyer, Revere Auctions will make a referral for packing and shipping. This is at the request, expense, and risk of the Buyer, and Revere Auctions assumes no responsibility for the items or the timing of delivery. Insurance for in transit items is the responsibility of the buyer. The buyer must reach out to a shipping company to arrange shipping.
