George Catlin, "North American Indians: Being Letters and Notes on Their Manners, Customs, and Conditions, Written During Eight Years' Travel Amongst the Wildest Tribes of Indians in North America, 1832-1839," Edinburgh: John Grant, 1926. Two volume set. With a hand-painted portrait of a Native American man by Charles Russell along a front page of volume one. Signed by the artist and with a sketch of a buffalo skull. The two volume set with 320 illustrations carefully engraved from the author's original paintings. Each volume bound in a tan leather with impressed gold foil designs.
(Each) height: 10 in x width: 7 in x depth: 2 1/4 in.

Condition

All pages appear present. Wear to the covers: the front cover of volume one is torn along the top and bottom; there appears to be some moisture exposure to the back cover of volume one; there are scratches and scuffs to the covers throughout. The pages are in good condition. Some very light toning to the sheets. No obvious major tears, creases, or losses. The painting is in good condition.
