Attributed to Pauline Jacobus (1840-1930). Studio pottery vase hand decorated with a flowering white and pink hibiscus design under a glossy glaze. Signed and dated 1883 along the underside. Strikingly similar to the work of John Bennett (1840-1907).

Jacobus first began producing art pottery in Chicago the same year this vase was created in 1883. However, she would go on to establish her own pottery firm - "Pauline Pottery" - in 1888 after moving to Wisconsin.

Height: 7 1/4 in x diameter: 6 3/4 in.
