Archaic Chinese carved jade plaque with an arched form. Well carved with a border and small comma spirals. Polish, carving, and material all point to an early date.
Provenance: Private Minneapolis Collection - collected in China prior to 1985.
Length: 5 in x width: 1 1/2 in x depth: 1/8 in. Weight: 49.73 grams.
There are no major cracks. There is an area of roughness along the top edge; likely a chip that has been smoothed. Light wear along the extreme edges. There is a sharpie inscription (337) along one of the edges. Light wear throughout consistent with age and use.
