2012 London Summer Olympic torch. From an edition of 8,000. The torch is made of gold PVD-finished aluminum. There are two shells: the inner shell is pierced with 3,600 holes and the outer with 4,400 holes. The total of 8,000 holes symbolized the 8,000 torch bearers and the nearly 8,000 mile journey the torch took during the relay. A torch was made for each torch bearer. The torch was designed by British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.
