Small Swedish carved wooden Gustavian style child's box bench, 19th century. With fretwork throughout the backsplat and rear posts terminating in carved Viking or Norse dragon heads. The seat is hinged and may be lifted to reveal a void interior for storage. There is an inscription carved along the top of the backsplat reading "Albert Powl," possibly a child's or maker's name.

This bench was likely specially constructed for a child, as Gustavian benches are typically 6-7 feet in length.

Condition
The hinges move well. Losses to the paint throughout. Scuffs, scratches, and light seperation to some joints. Wear to the feet including some small chips, splits, and scuffs.
