One late 18th century very fine huanghuali Chinese lamp hanger chair with basket seat. The chair is of the classic form, the back made of two side supports that become legs and a single undecorated slat that terminates at the top into the shaped neck support. The basket weave seat is not original, likely a 19th century replacement. The legs are supported by double stretchers.

Provenance: The collection of Bruce Dayton and Ruth Stricker Dayton - Selections from The Marsh, Minnetonka, Minnesota.

Height: 44 in x width: 19 1/4 in x depth: 16 1/2 in.

Condition

The chair is structurally sound and stable. The backsplat is slightly loose in its joints. The lower stretcher bar along the back left leg is slightly loose. Along the underside of the seat there are three splits to the underside of the base. There is one break to the frame of the seat along the underside. There is light general wear throughout consistent with age and use.
