Description:

Anders Zorn (Swedish, 1860-1920). Etching on paper titled "Nude Study," alternatively titled "Modellstudie," depicts the back of a nude woman laying down, 1884. Etched after a watercolor by Zorn of the same name. 1st state printing. Signed in plate along the left side. Original sheet was trimmed down to fit the mat board. Fixed to the verso of the mat board is information from a previous auction in Stockholm in 1983.

  • Image; height: 7 1/4 in x width: 4 in. Matted; height: 13 1/2 in x width: 9 3/4 in.
  • Condition:
  • The sheet is toned unevenly, likely from a previous framing. There is a large tear extending from the lower edge which has been repaired with scotch tape along the verso; the tear measures 2.5 inches in length. There are two rectangular areas of residue from a previous framing along the top edge, additional residue along the right edge. There is an area of dark discoloration along the right edge, possibly from moisture exposure. There is a minute loss along the lower right edge. Soiling to the verso. The sheet is hinged along two points along the verso along the upper edge. The print is affixed to a matboard. Not framed.
